Has anyone else had this? I have to go tomorrow for the 'procedure'. I'll take paracetamol before I set off and wear big knickers and take a pad, but any words of wisdom? And I really need my coil changing or even just removing, is it worth asking tomorrow?

I felt a huge sense of relief after my lletz in March.
The procedure wasn't painful but the injection of anaesthetic in the cervix was definitely a bit 'ouch'.
No idea about coil situation although personally I'd guess that they wouldn't touch that.
I have my 'test of cure' smear in September and am starting to feel a bit stressed.
Have my fingers crossed it's all ok.

My lletz was a couple years ago but for me it hurt. They took several biopsies too. I remember it being like very strong period pain and I struggled with sitting properly afterwards. . I bled for about 2-3 days after wards .

Choux · 13/07/2021 01:35

I had it done 11 years ago. I had it done privately under sedation so have no memory of the procedure itself but don't recall much discomfort or bleeding afterwards so it couldn't have been too bad.

I really came on to say that I have had all my smears since and have never had another abnormal one. I hope that offers some reassurance.

I had this a few years ago. I didn’t find the procedure painful at all and had mild period pains for a couple of days afterwards. The worst part for me was having to use pads rather than tampons.

I’m back on normal smear patterns and my last one came back clear.

Hope everything goes well for you! Feel free to PM me if you have any specific questions

I had this a few years ago, with local anaesthetic. May experience a little soreness once it's worn off. Hope it all goes okay. Maybe have someone drive you there (and wait in the car) if you're worried

Not sure they'll take the coil out but worth asking

I had this (CIN 3) 11 years ago and all has been well since. It was much simpler than I expected and not painful. Like a PP has said there might have been a quick ‘ouch’ when they injected the local anaesthetic but not enough to have left any lasting memory! I had minor spotting for a couple of days so wore a pad.

Mainly I remember that this felt scary at the time but turned out to be no big deal. I hope that gives you some additional reassurance Flowers

The injected anaesthetic was worse than the procedure! They removed my coil at the time because they said it just had to come out. I was CIN3 and I have been fine ever since.

ZZTopGuitarSolo · 13/07/2021 04:13

I had CIN3 more than 25 years ago now. Since then I’ve had regular normal smears and 3 children and all has been fine.

I felt quite sore once the anaesthetic wore off but a sleep and paracetamol fixed it. I bled for a few weeks and had to use pads which wasn’t much fun.

All will be well - I hope they look after you kindly tomorrow.

How did you get on OP? Hope everything was ok.

CafeMochaVodkaValiumLate · 14/07/2021 21:05

@Catquestion thanks for asking. It was okay, my stupid cervix kept moving and causing issues though and after the injection I couldn't stop shaking. Not sure why. I've not even bled afterwards just mild period like pains every now and again. Just keeping my fingers crossed that whatever they've taken is all okay.
