For the past couple of weeks I have been having pressure headaches, which seem worse or to start when I jump up fast from my seat. I've just googled and I've scared myself, I'm scared to go asleep in case I don't wake up. I do have health anxiety and quite stressed at the moment, I just feel so worried. The pain is in my neck too and feels like my nose, hopefully it's just my sinuses

Sorry you're not feeling well, and that it's causing you anxiety. Could it possibly be hay fever? The pollen count has been really high lately where I am, and congestion can cause headaches. Hope you feel better soon Thanks

I also suffer badly with health anxiety so I sympathise. I've banned myself from dr google to keep me sane.

Can you do some breathing exercises to help calm down a bit and try some neck stretches to see if they help. Step away from google and try and speak with your gp about both your headaches and your health anxiety.

LadyLolaRuben · 12/07/2021 00:30

Hi OP this really sounds like stress induced symptoms. So I'd really try not to worry x

irresistibleoverwhelm · 12/07/2021 00:38

I get this with sinus problems, exactly the same pressure/headache.

PieceOfString · 12/07/2021 00:44

I had something similar when I changed my contraceptive pill to something new once. Have you recently done that? I had to come off it and it went away.

PieceOfString · 12/07/2021 00:45

Do you grit your teeth or grind them in your sleep when you're stressed? That can cause muscle tensions that would present like that too.

Enough4me · 12/07/2021 00:45

Mental health is still physical health. Anxiety can cause adrenaline to pound through a body causing the fight or flight response & multiple strange feelings & effects, e.g blood pressure & headaches. Try to take full & slow breaths in and out and don't suddenly jump up from a chair or bend with your head down - gravity can change blood pressure too.

Op, for the last two weeks we've had a high pollen unit and constantly thundery, humid weather.
Both give me headaches. Add in a bit of Covid stress and you have the perfect recipe for a thumping headache.

Earlydancing · 12/07/2021 00:49

Most headaches are caused by stress. So if you're worried about a headache, of course it's just going to hurt more. You have my sympathies - I am a worrier too.
Have you taken a couple of paracetamol? Often as they take the pain away, you stop worrying, and the pain goes anyway, if you see what I mean. Are you prone to headaches? Whereabouts is the pain?

AfternoonTeaInLondon · 12/07/2021 06:17

Thank you so much for replying. I had two paracetamols and ended up falling asleep on the sofa.
It probably is caused through stress but I can't help thinking the worse, I think I need something for my anxiety Sadas I'm sat here in tears at the thought of another headache today

Can you go for an early morning walk? Nip out now for 10 minutes and get some fresh air.

One thing is for sure, if you do have a headache today, you won't be the only one !

AfternoonTeaInLondon · 12/07/2021 08:21

Thank you to every reply, and Thanksto those who suffer with health anxiety, it's just awful. I'm going to take the kids to school and then go for a walk, luckily I'm off work today. I still have a lingering headache but I need to forget about it, it's just hard Sad

Are you taking painkillers frequently? That can cause rather than cure headaches.
It does sound like you need to seek support from your GP.

AfternoonTeaInLondon · 12/07/2021 08:39

@LemonRoses I would say I take paracetamol probably a couple of times a week.
I've booked in to an eye test as sometimes I feel like my eyes are straining so they could be causing it but also calling Gp to talk about my anxiety

You poor soul.

I have the same so I sympathise. However you won't die because of this, you really won't.

Googling symptoms rarely relieves anxiety!

Yes there are all sorts of terrible Illnesses out there but as PP have said, many other explanations too.

My hayfever has been terrible this year, and it manifests differently in different people.

It can lead to sinus issues which flare with movement and I think many underestimate how painful this can be
