bleeding hemorrhoids

Hi, my friend suffers from bleeding hemorrhoids. She had her tests done and that's what she has, they aren't painful but she bleeds a lot. She is too shy to post her question so I'm asking anybody who has experience in deeling with them - alternative creams, natural treatment, home treatment rather then the hospital, anything you feel might help her. She has to have her pads all the time as the bleeding comes often without her knowing and you can imagine her embarrasment. Could anyone advice, please?

Well, I would think that they need treating - perhaps Proctosedyl - they helped me, but I was in more pain than I was bleeding - Dr gave me a prescription for suppositories as well as ointment and I have to say that although I was reluctant to start with, they really helped.

Thank you, quishy, I'll let my friend know of your advice.

I've had the same problem. Pretty undignified it is too! The doc would prescribe a steroid cream in the 1st place if things from the chemist don't work. Failing that, there is a thing called Banding. This is my next operation. It isn't surgery and may or may not work. If it doesn't work and everything is still a mess, surgery is the final resort and does tend to work, at least for quite a few years.

Please tell your friend not to be ashamed - it is really important to get these things treated. Your bum is no less part of your body than your nose!

Thank you very much, hellobellosback. I'll tell my friend what you said but she is very shy and she'd be very happy to find some natural treatment she could do at home - some plant which eats them perhaps?

Another way of looking at natural treatment is to treat the cause of haemorrhoids. They are often related to constipation and straining to pass stool. So your friend needs to ensure that she avoids constipation. She should try a high fibre diet, drinking plenty of water etc, anything that makes her softer.
If she is successful then she may find that the bleeding improves without any direct treatment to the haemorrhoids.

You're so right about diet, bex44. Unfortunately it hasn't worked for me. I've had the added complication of colitis, so I can't have the hemorrhoids excised until my gut is more settled.

Please TRY and pursuade your friend to go to the doc. Really, it's not that bad,and they've seen it all before. It's much better than letting things fester on!

Thank you so much for your replies. My friend saw the doctor on many occasions and she had her test done on the hospital. They found blleding haemorroids and gave her some tretement which didn't help. She has a good diet but the bleeding can come just any time of the day or night. She even tried cabbage leaves because they helped a lot with mastitas but nothing seems to improve and it gets worse around her periods when she looses the same about of blood which is a lot. Anyway, i just thought i might be able to help asking her questions. Thank you again.
