I am posting this as this may be a topic of interest for some of you.

I was too nervous about giving DS the MMR so did single vaccines. My pead recommended the booster age 4.5yrs but as DS had the singles he recommended that we do the booster asap to ensure ds was covered as pead said some clinics who offered the single vacs didn't store the preparations properly etc (need to be in a fridge). So we decided upon the booster BUT my gp said he would do a blood test....! We did it very easily, gp was very persuasive and spoke about magic etc while ds had his eyes closed and we did use a numbing cream (was applied 45 mins prior to test). Anyway, blood was taken last Thursday and I am awaiting the results.

Will post as soon as I have them!!

He had the test last Thursday and I meant to post then(haven't had time), not to tease or torment but to start a thread sooner so that anyone who was considering the single vacs v the MMR or vice versa would have a MumsNetter's experience to draw upon. It has been a week already and should hopefully have the result tomorrow and will post asap.

I would be interested to read about other MumsNetters' results if their DC had a blood test and what the results were.

yes.
im interested in your results coz mine have ad the single jabs. well, we're a bitbehind with ds2 and 3 [oops!], but we're getting there.

am keen to see your results. i actually think the mmr is safe, but dp is really against it so i cant v well do it behind his back, can i? if the singles appeared unsafe, it would open up the conversation again.

so yes, im interested and thanks for posting.

Interested to see the results. DS had the MMR combined first dose at 2.5 but I didn't like his reaction to it, so am very strongly considering single vaccines for his booster and for DD.

Many apologies for the delay. results came through on Friday afternoon and he has antibodies for Rubella and Measles but not Mumps. So 2 out of 3 worked so will have the MMR booster as quicker to get an appt for that than having the single jab for Mumps at the hospital. I wonder what the results would have been had I given the MMR as I read that the booster is given as a child may not be protected for all 3 of the diseases and the booster then covers all 3 if one or two did not take.

Any views on that?

can i ask why you will give him the mmr booster, but not the mmr jab in the first place?

ChicPea · 28/11/2007 15:19

Because I am no longer worried about autism
