Argh - completely blocked in one ear and the other a little halfway. Otex isn’t doing much...

What else can I do - they don’t syringe these days do they? The hiss/fuzzy drone is driving me bananas.

There might be place you can go privately to get your ears cleaned out. I took my ds to one near me when his ears were blocked. The GP did offer it but there was a big waiting list

You can get them microsuctioned. I think Specsavers might offer this?

TheRosesOfSuccess · 30/06/2021 15:06

Yes, microsuction. Oh the relief!

SnuggledUpInABlanket · 30/06/2021 15:16

SpecSavers do it for £55.
Try a few drops of warm olive oil twice a day. I had this and it took a few days, got worse before better then cleared yesterday - the relief!

It’s driving me nuts. There is someone drilling outside - great, I think, they’ve stopped drilling! One litt poke to my ear and no, they hadn’t stopped (my ear just regunged)!

Neither the GP nor Specsavers will sort out deep ear wax in my area. They don't do microsuction. You will need a private specialist. My local specialist charges about £55 for both ears. Takes about 10 mins and the relief is wonderful. He asks that you do not use any kind of oil as it just makes things worse. Otex of any description didn't help.

Nothingoriginalhere · 30/06/2021 15:32

Spec savers or boots offer ear stringing/suctioning at approx £55-65
You may need to ring a few places in your area to find out.
I’m a hca at a GP surgery and we do offer syringing but you need to use oil for 2/3 weeks to make sure the wax is soft.
And we have restarted but obviously spaces are limited and we have a waiting list.

NoEffingWaytoSurvive · 30/06/2021 15:42

I had mine microsuctioned years ago and it was epic.
The technician spoilsport wouldn't let me see what she had got out of my ears but I went from thinking I was deaf to hearing pins drop three houses down Grin

My husband has narrow ear canals and psoriasis and swears by regular visits to an Audiologist- it's not ridiculously expensive. He uses an independent but Boots should also have the service in larger stores. You have my sympathy, ear ache is horrible!

My Dh went to spec savers about 3 weeks ago. They charged £55 but that was for both ears, if they don't find any wax they refund your money. In a very short time my Dh could suddenly hear in the ear that had been blocked.

Hohofortherobbers · 30/06/2021 21:56

Took my dm to independent ear specialist yesterday, 10 mins and £50 later she'd suctioned 2 sweetcorn sized lumps of wax out, miraculous.
