My daughter has just turned 4 and she has always suffered with a forever runny nose and everybody comments about it and always has done. I have been to Drs about it several times over the years and she also suffers with ear ache from time to time.
Nursery had an open evening a couple of weeks ago and they said she is absolutely fine except for her nose etc. They said it affects her concentration as she constantly has to wipe it and will affects her confidence onces she is at school.
This week since fri she has had a cold and been even more stuffed up and snotty, coughing all night, ear ache, crying etc me and dh are knackered.
we both had our adenoids out as children for similar reasons but Drs these days don't seem to listen and avoid tonsil or adenoid removal like the plague! HOW CAN I GET HELP?

Have you thought / has someone suggested that this could be perennial rhinitis? Its normally an allergic reaction and is / can be miserable.

I've just found this web site here which might give you some more information.

Hope that helps.

Thank you, I've just had a look. the dr did mention it being like an allergy a couple of years ago and she had a medicine which made no difference at all except send her to sleep.
Its sounds a bit like that but her ears hurt her too every now and then?
At night because she is lying down, (I have tried propping her up) she gets totallly blocked up and coughs often saying she can't breathe etc. I dont want her to start school next september and be known as snot bags etc etc you know how spiteful kids can be

I am a nurse, but have no professional knowledge of this I'm afraid. However, things I've heard of that may be worth a try include excluding dairy from the diet (I know people who've had startling results for reducing nasal mucous with this).
Also at a medical conference some years ago, a homeopath mentioned pulsatilla (?spelling) for nasal congestion. Might be worth getting advice on
All the best.
