Think there's blood in water after emptying bowels?

Had a sigmoidoscopy before Xmas and a colonoscopy in January, all normal just one single diverticula found on sigmoidoscopy and colon rectal consultant just said it's normal as you age, can bleed? And to avoid nuts beans legumes seeds etc and discharged me.
Now for roughly about two months I've noticed at least one to two times after a bowel movement a week that the water looks as if it's mixed with something like blood, and on close inspection I could see like as if you dropped a drop of blood in water and how it disperses out iykwim, other times the water is normal after bowel movement and I don't see anything.
So as I had a normal colonoscopy and sigmoidoscopy apart from the diverticula diagnosis is this what the consultant meant by saying they can bleed bearing in mind I was told I at the moment only have one single diverticula? No piles, no polyps as I said clear colonoscopy.
Anyone else had this?is it anything to worry about?

I have this after eating beetroot - assume it’s not that?!

MartyHart · 25/06/2021 22:31

Do you have piles?

kissmelittleass · 25/06/2021 23:03

@Moonlaserbearwolf no beetroot yesterday but could it be cranberry juice? I usually drink some every evening?
@MartyHart no piles

Pls go back to your GP and ask them to do another FIT test to rule anything out

DGFB · 25/06/2021 23:08

I’d also go back to your GP. Things can and do change.. am sure it’s fine but better to be safe

kissmelittleass · 25/06/2021 23:16

@omgthepain@DGFB Thanks yes I will try to see the doctor this week as I'm a bit anxious, I've had a clear sigmoidoscopy and colonoscopy so I'm hopefully I'm ok, I've never had a FIT test just the above which I assume are better?

@kissmelittleass
A FIT test is fairly standard on the 2 week wait pathway if GP's suspect anything and so I'm sorry I assumed you'd had this before;
I'm sure if you speak to your GP they'll re-refer you to the colorectal consultants and do any necessary checks. Haemoroids can come fairly quickly so it could just be that big always better to be seen;
Also if you have family history of bowel issues especially cancers it is important to get on to the bowel screening programme aswell.
I hope everything goes ok for you x

@omgthepain Thank you I'll definitely talk to the doctor this week

It could be the cranberry juice. A number of foods could potentially cause this. I would keep a food diary whilst you’re waiting for a FIT test.

DGFB · 26/06/2021 08:53

A FIT test usually comes before a colonoscopy so I do think you’ll be fine as they didn’t find anything. But they may want to do another one just to be sure
