Tension headaches

Are there any quick fixes for tension headaches?

Every single work day, without fail, I end up with the worst headache that I put down to tension. I've noticed I clench my jaw too so make a concerted effort to relax it when I realise.

I found i was clenching my teeth/jaw too. I find rubbing or pushing (like a pressure point) the area can sometimes ease the pain for a while.

Maybe look up some neck/back exercises to stretch everything out.

If you keep getting them you may need some tablets from the Dr's.

I'm the same. All the muscles in my face/temples/head/neck are tense too.

The thing that helps the most is DH giving me a massage but he's not around very much so I bought a shiatsu neck/shoulder massager from Amazon and find it really helps. I also massage my temples/head myself.

I have a nightguard from the dentist to protect my teeth but it doesn't stop me clenching my jaw.

Interested if anyone has any other suggestions.

Less coffee and tea and more water.

I've found that a microwave heat pack across my neck/shoulders helps a lot.

Syndol.

Yoga with Adrienne - she does a couple of sessions for neck/shoulders.

Shoulder massages, although not had one of these since before Covid.

Abdominal breathing… it helps to downgrade your stress response.. essentially try to imagine you have a little balloon gently expanding in you tummy as breathe in (through your nose) and as you breathe out (through your mouth) it slowly deflates. It’ll work extra quickly if your out-breath lasts longer than your in-breath. Loads of videos online.. works really well. Try to do it every few hours and the tension will really decrease. Good luck op

Thank you for the hints and tips I'll give them all a try. 3hrs in to work and I can feel the headache start I already.

I luckily have deep tissue massage every month which helps for a short period of time but even paracetamol struggles to shift them and I don't really want to rely on painkillers every day.
