Dizziness on standing

Very used to this so it feels normal but it's been recently getting worse.

I was just lying in bed and stood up on the bed to reach up for a sleeping bag stored on a shelf for my son (playing caterpillars!)

Partial loss of sight, seeing stars, almost completely black as soon as upright, but after a couple of seconds pausing, it resolves.

Is this something to mention to Gp or just a do more exercise and drink more fluids kind of thing?

It's happening an awful lot at the mo, standing from crouching etc. I have some hypermobility and hypothyroidism.

It’s usually a blood pressure thing. Maybe something like POTS? I find it happens to me when I have been sitting down for ages without moving or if I’m been crouching/bending over. The sudden change in blood pressure when you start moving again will make you feel a bit weird for a few seconds. Being dehydrated can cause it too so definitely increase your fluids to 2 litres per day

Ok will do, thanks

With mention of hypermobility it definitely sounds like PoTS. Might be worth having a look at the PoTS UK website for tips.

Yes I've wondered before. I can get easily fatigued. Will look again.

It's occurred to me that things like fish oil supplements can lower bp; perhaps make things worse if you already have low bp?

Ooh yes, tick tick tick.

I can have palpitations if I eat too late

And lots of problems in the morning lately.

Thanks will look into what to do. More gentle exercise will help I think.

And interestingly I've always found being on a slow release beta blocker helpful which nhs says can be an option. Initially for stress but I found I felt more balanced and had more energy. Not been on them for years though.

Ive also often found things like leg stockings helpful at bad times. Especially on flights!

Thanks for suggestions; going to tackle from many angles!
