Frozen shoulder

Has anyone had a frozen shoulder and can give any advice or suggestions to ease it.

I can barely move my arm. In so much pain. I have had a steroid injection last week and continued physio.

But no improvement yet. I am on 60mg of codeine 4 times a day and 500mg of naproxen twice a day.

Is there a light at the end of the tunnel?

I was recently in hospital with something called calcification tendinitis of my right shoulder. I had an anaesthetic injection into the supra something tendon. I like you assumed it was a frozen shoulder but an X-ray confirmed otherwise. I was in so much pain I couldn't sleep. It is an emergency and you may need morphine and that injection so I would contact your go and stress the pain your in. Hope you get some relief

Sorry that will teach me to read the full thread just seen the update and glad you had an operation!

I am very sorry to hear about your second frozen shoulder. I have also had two frozen shoulders, several years apart. The first resolved spontaneously as for PPs. For the second I spent months doing private physio. It helped the pain but although the therapist had me convinced it was helping to unfreeze the shoulder, the surgeon, for that's where my story is headed, eventually proved it had done nothing. The physio persuaded me to try hydrodilation next. Two rounds - no effect. Surgery cured it quicker than you can blink. I was very lucky in having little pain, but even if I had not been I would cut straight to surgery were it to happen again

A tip from the surgeon, gleefully followed by my DH, to help with the pain is this. While the should is still numb from the anaesthesia, every hour or so spend a few minutes rotating it vigorously.DH would hold my wrist or lower arm and make big circles. We did this from about an hour after surgery until bedtime. Apparently this helps with the scar tissue or something and thereby minimises pain.

I will be wishing you well!

@LIZS I hope the injection. Works well for your DH.

Although my first one didn't help with movement, it did help with the pain.

My husband had it and had an operation to release the muscle . It was done privately but there must be a nhs equivalent. He had Physio but they said nothing would sort it without the op!

unfortunately my DH, he it in both shoulders.

His first side he had injection and physio and he has probably has about 75/80% movement back. But now his other shoulder is getting worse.

This has probably going on for about a year now.

Why do you have to wait a few weeks for the injection on your second frozen shoulder ?

It may work this time and the sooner it's done the better . My GP gave me a steroid injection but said it was always extremely difficult to find the right spot and he spent ages looking at my arm movements.

I was very lucky, it was like an instant relief so it may be worthwhile trying to get it done earlier. Hope it works for you.
