PRe ds (now 3 yo) I had heavy but painless periods. All fine, never missed one.

Since ds they have been lighter and more painful - but knew they often change after having kid.

For the past 9 months or so they have been awful.

So painful (and it gets worse every month) that it is causing me to vomit and similar (I know I have a very low pain tolerance, but these are really bad). Painkillers just about take the edge of it, no more than that.

BUt the most worrying part is that for 1 in every 3 I will get the pain, all the symptoms but no blood. It is really worrying me.

For the other 2 out of 3, 1 will be very very light and the other will be about average (say 3 days long) and just be full of clots.

Am guessing this is bad. WHat could it mean? Do I need to go to dr? (please say no, am quite phobic of drs).

i think you dont really have any choice but to go to the dr, better to get it checked by a professional

Have you had a smear recently?? I was having really painful periods and then after having my smear, they noticed that I had CIN III cells, removed them and my periods were less painful, apparently the pain could have been caused by the blood actually coming through my cervix.

I will go to dr then.

Am due smear as jsut turned 25. Haven't got round to booking it yet.

Oh joy - the fun.

Thanks fro the replies

Will it be you first smear?? They really aren't as bad as they seem, I'm 26 and it was my first smear that they noticed the cells on, I'd also been ttc for about 8months with no joy and then fell pregnant straight away so I think that was probably to do with my cervix not letting traffic through properly either!

if you really dont want to go to the dr you can visit a family planning clinic/sexual health unit hth it may be wiser to go to your gp though!

Also meant to say, when periods are clots, they are likely to hurt more, it is the clot passing through that hurts.

thanks.

Will book appointment.
