HEAD LICE: How long after (hopefully) curing an infestation does the itching go on for?

DS2 & have had nits. After a week or so of neem conditioner I resorted to Derbac, which we used yesterday. When I combed my hair out I was clear (DS2 had a few small lice, which were still alive - ???!) but I think I got all of them. Anyway, my scalp is still itching. I fine-combed it again in the itchy area, but again it was clear. I read on MN that it's an allergic reaction to the bites that causes the itching; is this true? I do tend to react badly to wasp stings & flea bites so is it just that, or could there be a secret camp of the sodding things still in my hair?

Also, has anyone used Delacet recently?

AND (sorry) how possible is it that DS1 & DH have escaped infection (no itching & no bodies after combing)? They both have thick wavy hair whereas DS1 & I have finer, straight hair.

dh and ss got the blighters last month, but the dd's and I escaped I'd take some antihistimine for the itching which should help if you're reacting. If it helps, I got itching but no nits just the thought of it I guess!

it could also be a dry scalp but keep up with the conditioner and comb method for at least 4 weeks as it could be freshly hatched ones and their life span is 4 weeks.

Head lice can cause eczema, it's a reaction to their droppings apparently, so that's what could be making your head itch.
