I've phoned NHS direct, and they said call out of hours doc, who is calling back ( supposedly half an hour ago).

She's had a nasty cold which has turned into racking phlegmy cough last couple of days, no temp, and now vomiting everything - even a sip of water comes back up, with painful retching, two minutes later - and has had the most foul smelling diarrhoeoa I've ever encountered.

She's tired, obviously, and sleeping lots - and pale, but otherwise seems herself, just weak.

Wondering how long I could/should let this go on without contemplating A&E? Is this a normal sounding bug? She was very very ill wtih bronchiolitis last year, but shes' not wheezing so don't think its that....aaargh, wish she was three....

I'd phone your out of hours service again tbh.

Is it just today she's been vomiting and had diarrhoea?

Eli, my A&E has EmDoc in the hospital grounds. If you're feeling that worried, I would take her to A&E.

Hope she gets better very, very soon.

Hopefully she's on the phone to the GP service now.

Elibean · 18/11/2007 16:28

I was, thanks!

She has an appointment at the Harmony Clinic (yeuch, why did they pick that name?!) at a hospital about half an hour's drive away, at 6.50. Thankfully, someone has offered to stay with dd1 so we can both go - no way I could drive with a vomiting 11 mo old in the back.

Marne, yes, its just today - she had loose poo yesterday, but nothing like this. She's just woken from a sleep, very cheerful if tired, had a sip of water or two, puked one, pooed (if you can call it that) the most offensive smelling other one. So on balance I think we need her assessed - laryngomalacia + nasty cough + this level of gut bug = bad night ahead.

I'm so glad you lot are out there, you're far faster than NHS direct.

How did you get on at the docs?

dooley1 · 18/11/2007 19:07

hopeeverything is ok and she is tucked up in bed xxx

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 18/11/2007 20:49

#hope you've not had to wait too long

Elibean · 18/11/2007 22:09

You are nice, thank you

She is tucked up in bed. She had a nap (in my arms, hanging on to my hair, poor love) and after that she drank 4oz/100mls of water and didn't throw up. On the strength of that, and the fact that it was freezing out and she was tired, we cancelled the appointment - as long as she's not dehydrating, we can see GP tomorrow.

She seemed chirpier, yelled for some food, we cracked and gave her some dry bread and a teeny bit of dd1's fish finger, so of course she threw up again....but kept down another 100mls of water, and is now asleep.

I'll update after the GP - am hoping its a 24 hour thing! Thanks again, xx
