The GP gave him erythromycin, then co-amoxiclav (hard core amoxycillin) and didn't seem to have a major effect. As of last monday DS still has "nasty" infection in one ear and the other still very red and shiny, and chest infection on one side...

We are all starting to flag. Poor chap, he bounces around half the time, and theother half spends feeling rubbish, whinging/tantrums, hot, not sleeping at all well...

Went to a homoeopath on Wed., started pulsatilla, instantly all the gunk started pouring out of his nose.. but 3 days on no other discernible difference.

drinks non-milk formula, etc etc.. difficult ot keep him away from cheese.

Pretty much at a loss now. Had similar problems as a child and now deaf. What do I do next?

Oh poor thing I couldn't really say, expcept that it could be a very bad virus and so the Antibtiotics aren't working but that is a long time for him to have been so poorly. Another trip to the docs definately in order. Best wishes to you both x

nag for referral to paediatric consultant?
explain what you have put so eloquently here, family history etc, and keep a food diary.
my DS1 had some of this but not as bad with ears as your LO, tho had permanently upset tummy too; he is dairy free and ok.

If it's a virus (as most ear infections are) then AB's won't do a damn thing - If it's carrying on i'd look at trying to get ENT to see him, before it gets to the hearing loss stage - Been there myself and i'm partially deaf as well - it took 4 years of nearly constant AB's which didn't work for my mum to get me a referral to ENT, apparently I've inherited narrow eustachian tubes from my dad and the slightest thing blocks them. I've not had AB's for years though but i get through loads of eucalyptus oil to unbung me when i get the washing machine noises!

Mm, wise words. I had to see my ENT consultant privately last week, (they had moved my appt. 5 times in 18 months on the NHS, and moved it again from next week to next April so what would have been a 6 monthly appt. has become 2 years..) and I think he's a good Paed.s person, so maybe time to talk to him... not sure why I didn't think of it before. Maybe it's the thought of taking DS into the middle of london????! Probably just too dazed to think sensibly... anyway, I will email him today.

Thanks everyone.....
