If I'd chipped a bit off my elbow when I had my spectacular falling escapade last night...

I'd be in more pain than I am, wouldn't I?

I fell off DS2's bed, over the end of it (bruising my knee on the foot of it), somehow span in midair, clutching at thin air, literally) and the full force of impact was taken by the tip of my elbow - on the top of the radiator.

It bled, it's swollen, it aches - frankly, I can't see how it's not broken, given the clump it took - but I can still type [phew] so it can't be broken - can it?

god I don't know. can you pop into your nhs walk in centre tomorrow?

francagoestohollywood · 17/11/2007 21:35

I think you'd be screaming if it was broken.

LongMeg · 17/11/2007 21:35

Yes, it can.

Go and get thee to an A&E.

DarthVader · 17/11/2007 21:35

were you drunk when you did it or not

hunkermunker · 17/11/2007 21:38

There was sobbing last night.

And much clutching of elbow.

Took painkillers and lay, whimpering for a bit, before I fell asleep. Felt like somebody was hammering a thin nail into a v specific point on my elbow.

Working tomorrow, can't get to A&E - will go if it gets worse, but what can they do for a chipped elbow anyway? Would it involve glue?

You wouldn't necessarily be screaming.

I know someone who broke his ankle doing a parachute jump, but was in so little pain that he drove a 4 ton truck 100 miles afterwards, and walked about on the ankle for another 24 hours before he had it checked out.

Please get someone to have a look at it.

hunkermunker · 17/11/2007 21:39

No, not drunk. Just incredibly clumsy!

If you can would get it X rayed as a precaution.Could just be a lot of soft tissue damage, though.Still very painful.Poor you.Hope its better soon.

LongMeg · 17/11/2007 21:41

Ow indeed!

Is there anyone else at home with the kids tonight? I know it's not a nice prospect, Saturday night in A&E, but I honestly would get it checked. And it's early enough that you'd be out before the drunks came in. Probably!

francagoestohollywood · 17/11/2007 21:43

gosh I didn't know that. I'm a whimp . go to a&e then hm

hunkermunker · 17/11/2007 21:43

Yes, DH here - really can't face A&E tonight.

What would they do if I had chipped it? Not a cast, surely?

southeastastra · 17/11/2007 21:45

you'll be ok give it a few days

CloudAtlas · 17/11/2007 21:48

If you've chipped it then surely it would be the same 'cure' as it would be for a broken rib or toe; nothing! I am sure I broke a toe a few weeks ago, just left it. All fine now. Bugger thoughm it must REALLY hurt!

LongMeg · 18/11/2007 17:45

How is it today, Hinker?

hunkermunker · 18/11/2007 22:56

Still very tender, but not exquisitely painful like it was. Still swollen. I don't think it's broken. It really ought to have a bigger bruise than it does though!

Thank you for asking!

I broke mine about 10 years ago. They just give you a sling, they don't put it in plaster because it may seize.

2sugars · 19/11/2007 07:07

My nephew broke his collar bone the other week. A&E gave him painkillers, but apart from that and a sling for his arm, there wasn't much else they could do. Is yours painful enought to warrant painkillers? I'd give my GP a ring if I were you and see what he/she says.
