Sounds like it, how long have you had it for, chicken pox like friends have you had them before (could it be shingles?) though not sure of shingles symptoms, have you felt unwell?

onepieceoflollipop · 17/11/2007 21:08

You don't sound thick. It sounds similar to a chicken pox spot. I've had it twice - both times confirmed by a GP. First time as a child, 2nd time (more mildly) a few days before my wedding and it started off with a few spots like you describe - on my abdomen area.
If it is chicken pox you are likely to get a few more spots over the next few hours. Maybe get it confirmed by a GP on Monday.
p.s. if you are pg or have a tiny baby get advice asap.

I'm not a doctor just going by personal experience btw.
Shingles is apparently painful rather than itchy but I gather it is likely to start around your abdomen.
Have you felt irritable or emotional at all? I was very tearful just before my spots came out and cried at work which is highly unusual for me. My boss thought it was wedding nerves but I knew it wasn't. Children often seem a bit off for a few days before the spots come out maybe with a slight temp.

You can honestly get it twice - my GP told me that. Although is more common to get shingles as an adult if you have had chicken pox as a child.
Might be worth asking round (friends etc) if anyone you have seen over the last few weeks has come down with it. I think it has quite a long incubation period around 3 weeks. So it is possible you may have caught it off a lo who was "going down with it" rather than showing actual symptoms iyswim.

LyraSilvertongue · 17/11/2007 21:17

DS2 has had it twice and he's only 3.5

onepieceoflollipop · 17/11/2007 21:18

I guess all you can do is wait and see over the next day or so. If it is cp you will be likely to develop more spots very quickly. And if Lucas is going to get it there isn't much you can do about it.
You could ring NHS Direct for further info

yes, you can get it as many times 'as you need to to build immunity' apparantly.... sorry but it sounds as though you're both coming down with it you should see your GP and take paracetamol if you need to, you can also take an anti-histimine (piriton) for the itching. Good luck
