Random Sunday morning question...🤣 got to laugh or I will cry.

Dd has ASD and pinches food, last night when I went to bed I found raw sausage in her room, she says she are some 🤢, she seems fine this morning, will she get sick?

Pork sausages?

The risk of salmonella is there, but fairly low. Parasites are one of the biggest risks with raw pork.

The only way you'll know is time, I'm afraid.

Curiosity gets the best of us. I've done that. I was fine. But I've got 'guts of steel' so unless her tummy doesn't have good tolerance I wouldn't worry.

Quite possibly but it might take a couple of days. I ate raw chicken on a Tuesday and woke up on Friday with stomach cramps and diarrhoea. Get some dialyte and bananas in the house just in case.

It was a Richmond sausage so I’m guessing the pork content is pretty low. I’m not sure how much she ate, I’m guessing she just tasted it. Tbh she’s probably eaten worse in the past. She’s rarely ill so probably does have guts of steel.

I'd worry about worms after eating raw pork.

Chances are she'll be just fine. Pork isn't as high risk from bacterial food poisoning as raw chicken. Sausages are also quite salty which will stop bacteria growing.

Parasites are a possibility, but parasites in pork are actually quite rare in this country. However, stocking up on dioralyte might be a good thing just in case.

There's no point worrying until there's something to worry about!

Thank you, she seems fine, I don’t think she ate much of it as it probably tasted horrible. She’s 15 and severely autistic, this isn’t the first time she’s eaten something she shouldn’t have and won’t be the last so her stomach is pretty strong and she’s rarely unwell. Fingers crossed she won’t get worms.
