Eyelid twitch

For the best part of a year now I've had an intermittent twitch in the eyelid of one eye. It's worse when I'm tired- which with a one year old DD is a lot of the time. It can sometimes disappear for a few days but then comes back to several times a day.

In the last few days the other eye has started doing it too. I'm now worried that it might actually impair my vision.

Is this something that is worth seeing my GP for? I have a family history of Parkinson's.

I'm pretty sure this is a common sign of being tired/rundown/stressed and dh and I have both had it. You are probably all of these after the year we've had and with a baby Flowers. If you are really worried definitely check with GP but it honestly wouldn't, in isolation, alarm me if no other symptoms.

Blepharospasm.

Happened to me all the time during the years I had to deal with abusive ex. Worsened when I was more exhausted than usual.

They can prescribe low doses of valium (diazepam) for it, or botox.

They don't, though.

Err they don’t because Valium is addictive and Botox stops the eyelids from doing their normal function (protecting your eyes!)

I’d say I get someone every week with this symptom / it’s pretty common. It can be due to:
Needing glasses
Dry eye
Not having your work station set up correctly
Eye Muscle balance problems
Stress
Tiredness

I’d start by having an eye exam, magnesium tablets can help too.

Thank you. I do suffer from dry eyes at night- I have to keep eye drops by my bed as sometimes it's so painful to open them first thing in the morning. Is there a cause and effect somewhere here or is it just another symptom of being generally tired with a wakeful toddler?
