Ds 2.11 had a pyogenic granuloma which on tuesday night started to bleed

Went to the local a&e and they tried for 20mins to stop it but couldn't so sent us to the bigger hospital.

They tried for a further hour then decided to try and stitch it this didn't work and ds was still bleeding.

His blood pressure dropped so he was rushed to theatre

The operation went ok and they removed the growth but ds was quite poorly and needed iv fluids and antibiotics

Was discharged after tea today ds has recovered well but I feel like i've been hit by a ten ton lorry

oh no. Poor you and ds.

Is this the same ds who had the bad chest a few weeks ago?

You are really having a time of it ali. I hope you get a chance to put your feet up a bit over the next few days.

brimfull · 16/11/2007 20:55

god sounds awful

how stressful for both of you

where was it on him?

glad he's ok now

take care of yourself

MissLapinToYou · 16/11/2007 20:59

Oh poor you and poor DS!

So glad he is on the road to recovery, but you sound like you need a hug, a drink and a hot bath, not necessarily in that order!

hildegard · 16/11/2007 21:03

god, what a nightmare.
Glad he is better, but sympathies for all you have been through.

edam · 16/11/2007 21:05

Oh no, poor you (plural). Glad he is recovering well but look after yourself as well.

bozza · 16/11/2007 21:08

So sorry to hear it went like this alibobins. I have just done a quick search and as I thought you were the person I was discussing it with before. At least when DS had his operation it was under controlled circumstances IYSWIM although we had a battle to fight beforehand to get to that and a couple of trips to A&E (one in an ambulance called by nursery). Was Tuesday night the first time it bled or had you had previous episodes? I do feel for you because although it is nearly 7 years (and 5 operations for other things) ago I can remember how traumatic we found it. DS's scar is small and not usually noticed if that is any consolation.

alibobins · 16/11/2007 21:09

Yeah it the same ds I really have had enough even the hospital said I've had my fair share

It was on his face about a cm away from his eye. He has got a black eye and a very swollen face but seems ok.

He was in sunday night aswel because of croup.

It feels like we are always waiting for the next thing.

Bozza- it bled tiny amounts last weeek but the gp just wasn't interested.

It looked ready to pop but I never thought it would. My house looked like a blood bath it was constantly pouring as soon as wadding was put on it went straight through it was pretty scary

Alibobbins I am sorry they were not interested. We had the same story and it was so stressful. It sounds like you really went through the mill. I was so worried about DS at the time and especially having once found him in his cot bleeding heavily but still asleep that I used to set the alarm for 2 am just to check on him. DS's was in a similar place just to the side of his nose below his eye. And he doesn't look too bad now - pictures on my profile to prove it. His operation was 2 days before his first birthday so on all the photos he has a dressing and black eye.

LedodgyDickinson · 16/11/2007 21:26

What a nightmare for you and ds. You have definately had more than your fair share lately lets hope this is an end to the run of bad health

alibobins · 16/11/2007 21:27

The facial doctors are pleased with the surgery I haven't seen it yet we go back on monday.

Apparently they stitched it from the inside and cauterised(sp) the top.

That sounds good. Obviously it will take a while to heal etc but with DS if you look closely you can actually see the stitches - but sounds like you shouldn't have that. Sounds to me like you have earned a g&t. Never been an inpatient with DS but had a night in a children's ward when DD fell down the stairs at 11 months (bad age for us) and got virtually no sleep so I am guessing after 3 nights and all the emotional side you are exhausted.

alibobins · 16/11/2007 21:42

I'm shattered the ward was such a busy place.

Its not just physical I feel emotionally drained

Can't see pictures of ds on your profile.

Right I have changed them to any mumsnetter and added another. Sorry about that.

alibobins · 16/11/2007 21:49

Thanks

Ds fast asleep now so i'm heading up to bed.

Think I've caught some horrible bug from hospital I can't stop coughing.

Just added another (of DS in a blue fleece) and you can just about see the scar on that one if you look closely but it was two years ago.

bozza · 16/11/2007 21:50

Hope you have a good night.

mckenzie · 16/11/2007 21:58

So sorry to hear about your ordeal alibobins and hope your DS makes a speedy recovery (the wee ones usually do, don't they?. You're probably more traumatised and exhausted by the whole thing than he is.)

Hope you have a good nights sleep both of you.

Elibean · 16/11/2007 22:41

O god, ali, you've been through the mill recently...ds too...

I'm so sorry. Is there anyone who can give you lots of T&C? You must have been totally traumatized - again.

alibobins · 17/11/2007 14:31

Had to go back this morning as it bled through his dressing

The surgeon saw us and re-packed it and seeing us again on monday.

When does it all end
