I think he is being so stupid. Am I wrong?

So my partner broke his ankle whilst playing football on Friday. They thought he would need an operation but called him and said they would see what happened when the swelling reduced a week on Tuesday and he is now in a half plaster cast to allow the swelling.

Now my partner is the most independent person ever and stubborn as hell. He's decided he is going back to work tomorrow. He work at a yard and he helps manage the yard which is an hour and a half away. He has convinced his friend (who also works with him) to take him to work at 5.30am tomorrow until 6pm. He is using crutches, he has been explicitly told he cannot put any weight on his foot. There's no risk assessment in place and he's decided to hobble in and try his best.

I've pleaded with him to give himself a week for the swelling to go down but he says he will go mad sitting around all day. I'm so worried he's going to hurt himself and I won't be able to go get him as I will be at work and will have to get my son from school.

He helps to manage? So is there a manager? Would insurance cover him if he has an accident?!

I think he's being very stupid!

Surely the employer will have risk assessment in place which won’t permit this so he will be sent home?

He is being stupid. You've only got one pair of ankles to last a lifetime.

A friend of mine broke several bones in his foot and ankle about 9 months ago, and didn't follow the doctor's advice about taking it easy. Things started to go wrong, he was in and out of hospital with it, got sepsis, ended up in intensive care and he died in January.

He's being stupid. But then I wouldn't have any empathy at all and would say fine, your choice. You can manage that you can also do your usual cleaning, cooking, childcare. And you can't moan about it being sore or if anything goes wrong, your decision

Ahhh he’s a delight isn’t he.
The surgeons dream.
Lots of lovely fucked up ankle to try and put right for the next 12 months.
The NHS was made for this kind of thing, loads of money in the pot to waste on this.

Honestly I know I'm so annoyed at him! We are even arguing about it- hes too bloody stubborn!
