sickness/spots that don't fade with glass test...HELP!

My son has been sick twice and now has purple pin prick spots around his eyes and on his cheeks which don't disappear with glass test.

I'm thinking it could possibly be the pressure from being sick...or something worse

What should I do? A&E, NHS direct or wait and see?

A & E now

Boogalooblue · 15/11/2007 19:14

dont mumsnet dial 999

CrookshanksinJimmyChoos · 15/11/2007 19:14

I'd ring NHS direct and see what they say -don't wait and see! If you aren't happy with what NHS direct say, go right to A&E - better safe than sorry imo!

BeautifulBoysGalore · 15/11/2007 19:15

A&E right now imafraid. dont panic, but move quickly.

Flame · 15/11/2007 19:16

A&E tooo

Bewilderbeast · 15/11/2007 19:17

A & E right now. Always go with spots that don't fade best to be safe.

whatajoke · 15/11/2007 19:24

Thanks.

hubby has taken him so I can look after other children. Mum will come over later if I want to go to the hosp.

hope its a false alarm and all is well

whatajoke · 15/11/2007 19:27

Thanks. I feel so upset, going to get others to bed, read stories etc and tidy up.

Hopefully once I've done all that I'll have some news.

Good luck - I know it won't be high on your list of priorities, but please let one of us know that all is well or we will worry!

minorityrules · 15/11/2007 19:30

I agree get it checked asap

BUT from what you describe, if it is localised to the eyes and cheeks, I'd say it was from being sick, straining causes little vessels to burst

I have had the same thing

Hope you get good news soon

whatajoke · 15/11/2007 19:31

Thanks myjobismum.

I thought it was this in the beginning but as they got worse I started worring.

I do remember my eldest child having a rash on his stomach similar which GP said was caused by being sick.

This rash is more purple/brown than that though.

He was sick with some force..I am praying it is just that.

RubySlippers · 15/11/2007 19:33

hope he is ok

whatajoke · 15/11/2007 19:50

they have seen the nurse who books you in.

She said it looks like vomiting rash

But they are waiting for the doc.

BeautifulBoysGalore · 15/11/2007 19:53

hurrah.

whatajoke · 15/11/2007 19:54

Actually I'm amazed at how quick he got seen!

It is a 15 minute drive and he only left 30 mins ago!

Good news!

It did rather sound like what I woke up to after a particularly unwise night out in my late teens .

yes, my recent trips to a&e tell me that they do a triage thing with kids these days (maybe adults too, wouldnt know) where the nurse sees almost right away and then you wait to see doc however long - obv quicker if the experienced nurse sees something urgent.

Flame · 15/11/2007 20:23

whatajoke · 15/11/2007 20:27

Well he has just seen the doc and he wants to keep him in a little longer. Wants to observe him and make him have a drink etc.

OP posts:
whatajoke · 15/11/2007 20:37

...so he had the drink and brought it all immediately back up
