Gallstones

Hi everyone. I have suspected gallstones (have a scan next week which I am hoping diagnoses them) after being in hospital on morphine 5 times since August.

My question to those who have had gallstones - how did you feel inbetween attacks? I am nauseous with little appetite and sometimes have a stabbing pain under my right rib. My iron and folate is low too so I am quite worried.

Thanks :)

I have gallbladder sludge.

Inbetween attacks I feel OK, generally, but realise I've not felt 100% without feeling massively unwell iyswim, for ages.
Main symptoms are just a dull ache around liver area, can go down by the side of belly button into groin area.

Thanks for your reply. Do you get any indigestion symptoms? Were they able to diagnose sludge from an ultrasound?

Hello, yes to both questions. The sludge (well, the sonographer said to me "wet sand"Hmm) was picked up on an ultrasound.
I get indigestion symptoms, often.
I will be seeing my doc in about a month and think she'll refer me for getting rid of it.

Thanks so much for your reply. I'm having an ultrasound tomorrow and really hoping they confirm gallstones. The worry of it being something else is getting to me now! Good luck with everything x

I felt fine between attacks as long as I stuck to a very strict low fat diet. I had one big, initial attack and only occasional grumbles after that (when I accidentally ate a bit too much fat). I never had any nausea, only pain, and the first attack was so awful that I had no trouble making myself stuck to low fat!

I had my gallbladder out 5 years ago and in between attacks close to my op I had discomfort in that area most days. Not really too painful but occasionally I would need painkillers.
I barely ate whilst at work for fear of an attack and was so glad when it was finally gone.

I was the same, I almost skipped out of the hospital when they confirmed it was gallstones. Oddly, the sonographer actually said, "well, there's gallstones and that's normal at your age" Confused and wrote on the report that my gallbladder was normal! I googled photos of gallbladders with and without stones when I got home to make sure I'd heard her right! Good luck for tomorrow

I had my Gallbladder out and I'm so relieved. I used to have horrific attacks at least twice s month where k could be in bed with a hot water bottle strapped to me and high as a kite off painkillers. In between attacks I felt like you, just awful, my body felt slow and sludgy, I didn't feel right!
