Anyone suffer from vertigo who got referred to ENT what happened at your appointment?

Been suffering from it for years on and off, currently got it in my right ear and had it for 12 weeks.
Today the doctor finally referred me to ENT. Just wondering if anyone knows what will happen and if anything helped?

They might do some scans like a ct or mri, a hearing test, maybe some balance tests. Probably not Al at the first appointment though.

@romdowa I thought maybe things like that would happen at first.
Was also wondering if there is any cure for it or is it something you just have to live with Sad

It depends on the cause of the vertigo really , vestibular rehabilitation physio helps a lot of people with it as it retrains the brain and ears

I was given a physio sheet

It will all depend on what is causing the vertigo to be honest.

At the initial consultation it will most likely just be a chat, they'll discuss with you if there's any known causes, what symptoms you have etc. They'll then determine what/if tests need to be done and discuss the options with you.

I've had it for years now and there isn't much my ENT consultant can do. Mine is as a result of multiple surgeries in my ears, I knew it was a risk when I had the ops and every one I had increased the risk.

For me now there isn't anything they can do to cure it so it is just a case of managing it. I am prescribed anti-sickness tablets for the nausea that can happen and I have learned how to cope with the dizzy spells etc and what to avoid and things. If there's a cause for it (such as an inner ear infection or ruptured ear drum) then these can be treated which would 'cure' the vertigo iyswim
