What did nutritionists actually do ?

I have seen 2 now and both were very expensive but each time they send me a report it’s a few lines and no recommendations. Is it to much to ask for a outline of things I could be doing ? Or have I got what they actually do wrong ?

You should see a dietitian. Proper qualifications.

You can do a short course and call yourself a nutritionist. You can't do that as a dietitian.

I've seen a nutritionist who was definitely more than "been on a 3hr course qualified." She was fab - long questionnaires to be completed before the session, then she took her time to find out what the issues were. Great explanations of her assessment and the latest evidence and recommendations that were easy to follow. Within a few weeks, I was feeling great benefits. I couldn't recommend her enough - there are definitely great ones out there.

I have seen a dietitian too but they weren’t great either all she said was lost a few pounds by controlling portions and come back in a month .

I then saw one nutritionist who cost £150 for 90 minute consult and basically just chatted and told me to cut out gluten no report . I complained and she refunded me 75 per cent and told me I obviously needed someone prescriptive .

I have now just seen a very well recommended nutritionist who has wrote books , teaches and is well known . Only had one session but notes that followed are so far very short and no recommendations. I am hoping this is not it !

Any recommendations would be helpful !

unprotected title in the UK, so any 'mumpreneur' can set up as a nutritionist and rip you off, or tell you a load of Paltrow-style nonsense. Anyone can write and self-publish books.

no-one who isn't qualified should be calling themselves a dietician.

This is what I was trying to say!
Dietetics qual is long 4 years ( was 4 years might have changed ) of challenging biological sciences, placements etc. Full on degree.
