I have a problem with frequent low level sickness. I say low level in that not something as bad as flu but bad enough that it impacts your life - i.e. couldn't exercise, have to drag yourself to work.
I had glandular fever as an older teen and I've often thought the two are linked. I get sore throats with ulcers on my throat, normally with a temperature on day one. When I get these, I feel really tired, have to stop exercising and am really at that point just surviving.
I've been to the doctor previously for this (years ago) - he says it's just viruses - could be anything from herpes simplex to HPV, really anything - but as it doesn't get worse and it's a virus, there is no treatment for it. Problem is I get this maybe once every 6 weeks/2 months. They ran a blood test to check I didn't have any problem with my immunity and it was fine.
So essentially I start getting fit, pick up running again, start feeling healthy and then get hit again with the virus. I then feel crap for about 2 weeks and then recover and it takes about 2 weeks to go back to usual fitness/usual life and 6 weeks later it hits again. So it's like 2 weeks of feeling shit, 2 weeks slow recovery, 6 weeks normal to then hit the 2 weeks of shit, 2 weeks of recovery again.
It's just so frustrating and I'd really like to try and knock it on the head. Every blood test that was done shows low level inflammation which I also now understand is not that great for you but again the doctors have dismissed it as not enough of an issue to worry about.
I'm not unwell - I haven't actually been to my GP for anything for 2 years now so this isn't something that is getting worse - but it is impacting my quality of life and I'm wondering whether anyone has any suggestions as to what to do.
I already take a sub lingual vit D and vitb12 supplement as I am deficient in those without that.
