Can you have more than one dentist?

I have an NHS dentist but they don't do implants. If I go private for implants do I have stick with them for all check ups in the future or can I keep seeing my NHS dentist? I imagine I'll have to see the implant people quite a bit afterwards but at some point they'll send me on my way. Will the NHS dentist not ever inspect the implants for example?

I have an implant - done at a private clinic - after the couple of follow up check ups, I don't go to that dentist anymore. (I do go the the hygienist there but that is a stand alone type of thing and I am not registered as a "patient" anymore).
I have my normal check ups at my NHS dentist as normal. So yes, you can have two - one private and one NHS.

Oh - and my NHS dentist is obviously aware of my implant and would tell me if there was an issue - as would my hygienist.

Yes and no, you can't have more than one regular dentist, but your own dentist can refer you onto someone to carry out treatment such as an implant

You will be able to see your normal NHS dentist for check ups and the implant dentist for implant related follow ups and treatment. The NHS dentist will check the implant at your check ups however if there are any problems with the implant you will need to go back to the implantologist
