Has anyone on here got any tips of how to get rid of an awful gag reflex. I have tried everything that my dentist and doctors have suggested but nothing works. My teeth are disgusting because I dread brushing them because I am sick every time I do. Help please

I think breathing in and out deeply helps me while I am brushing my teeth

Hypnosis?

I gag too sometimes when cleaning my teeth, I find humming helps. It's supposed to stop you retching, I read somewhere.

Can you start w baby steps? Brush your teeth with them together, so the tooth brush won’t make you gag. Then work on opening jaw a little more to see if you can get further back. Also, don’t eat before brushing teeth. This way if you gag nothing comes out.

Have you tried a small child's toothbrush? Perhaps brush while distracting yourself with music or watching something?

Ginandvomit done that didn’t work

Have you tried children's tooth paste? They have nicer flavours like bublegum etc. I have similar struggles with brushing my teeth and find a smaller tooth brush and non minty tooth paste can help but some days I still throw up after brushing.

Have you tried an electric toothbrush? They have smaller heads and you don’t need to move them as much.

I was like this when I was pregnant and it took a while (years) to go away. It still happens occasionally and my youngest child is 20. The electric toothbrush helps a lot.

Maybe try oil pulling instead of brushing? It's just swishing an oil like coconut oil around your mouth and it does leave teeth very clean. Just don't swallow the oil afterwards. Spit it into the bin not down the sink.
