Fear of flying

Has anyone successfully overcome, or at least reduced, a fear of flying? I have travelled extensively, sometimes alone, many long haul flights but since having children I am absolutely terrified of it. Have done it but I hate it. It was actually worse when I flew without my children last time. Last few times I've been given valium by the doctor but I don't want to need this. Does therapy work? Any online courses that are good? I feel so stupid about it 😩

and actually they give you a book too. I assume now, as I did mine in the 90s, there's a download - but like the PP you can read it over and over and there are exercises
@Seriously79 oh wow - can I ask whether you are completely comfortable flying now or whether you still get anxious? That sounds amazing and really cheap too!
I get anxious - as in 'hope we can park easily/ hope we check in on time' but there's no 'flying fear' anymore x

I was the same OP - fine with flying up until I became a mother. I used to take Valium - I just have a few drinks now. I used to be tense & anxious the whole flight, listening out for sounds... hating turbulence, dreading the flights from the moment I booked anything, even disliking planes flying overhead.

I am now so much better. Maybe the anxiety of early mother head has left me. I think what really helped was The Speakmans & I don't know why. I had This Morning on in the background but heard them help someone who was afraid of flying. It must of gone in because I heard that funny mans voice next time I flew and enjoyed the whole flight. I was breastfeeding my youngest most of the way. I was too scared to even take my first on a plane when that young.

Hopefully you'll get there too Thanks
