Single measles vaccine info needed

The rational scientist in me thinks MMR is the safest option for DD (13 months) but the emotional mummy isn't so sure. What do I need to know about the single measles vaccine if I decide not to get the MMR? Is it safe? expensive? where does it come from and is it regulated? I live in North Wales so will I have to get to a big city to find a clinic or do GPs offer it?

Any info is gratefully received!

As far as I am aware you will need to go to a private clinic. I had my DD's vaccinated with single vaccine when we lived abroad and now need boosters - my local GP has advised they cannot offer single vaccines.

Singles are available from private clinics, I paid approx £120. The clinic will be able to give you a copy of the patient information sheet. From what I remember there are two different strains of vaccine available for measles, one for Schwarz and one for Edmonston-Zagreb, the ones from our clinic were made by either Aventis Pasteur or Berna Biotech.

OK, so I have found a clinic that does it for £140 and is about 2 hours away which isn't too bad. I have been reading about this vaccine though and the clinics have to get it from abroad and thus it is unregulated in this country which doesn't sound great to me.

I am very confused about which way to go!
