Surgeon causing concern!

I am due a hysterectomy next week and am having it done privately. The surgeon has met me once in person and I have had 2 zoom consultations, the second was yesterday. I was astounded that he'd not bothered to read my notes before the call and didn't seem to have much of a clue despite my complex medical history and being high risk. He mentioned me going into menopause after the surgery despite me having already started this process almost a year ago and already being on HRT, and I had asked him a question about this medication just last week! I also gave him copies of my CT and MRI scans a few months ago and when I asked if he still had them to review prior to the operation he said he'd prefer to wait and see what he finds during surgery, but I think he should at least try and he as prepared as possible. I'm really panicking now as he seems quite erratic and not focused. Should I email or speak to his secretary to air my concerns? Or send an email to him outlining everything?

Just find another surgeon.

It's not that simple. I have a kidney stent in that can only be there for 6 months, due to covid etc it's already 5 months and I need to get this done as I'm not well and it's impacting my day to day. I've seen other surgeons but privately it's not that easy to arrange as he has to do the surgery with a colo-rectal surgeon so this is all set up. I've gone with him because he's got a very good reputation

The ct and mri findings don’t always match what’s actually on the inside so perhaps he’s using his experience and expertise in saying he’ll see what’s what intraoperatively.

Just a thought but if the hysterectomy isn’t for cancer wouldn’t it be better to get the stent sorted first? Or try and organise to do the stent exchange on the same day?

If you’ve lost faith though, as pp suggested, you’re probably better off finding another surgeon though.

Yes I agree on the scans, but it was the other things he wasn't up on, has really worried me.

The stent needs to stay in place until after the surgery as the reason for the surgery is a giant cyst putting pressure on the ureter.

I feel like it's too late in the day to change surgeon now, this would set everything back again months.
