Temporal lobe epilepsy?

I don’t know if I should go to the doctor for this or what. Basically every so often I get extremely clear and vivid flashbacks to completely trivial moments in my life. They tend to come in waves so maybe over a few days I have them and then they disappear again.
I also every so often get this feeling of euphoria rising up my body, like a giddiness. While it’s happening I just have to stay still and wait for it to pass.
I have never had a seizure. I did faint a fair few times when I was pregnant but that was caused by low blood pressure.
Other relevant things maybe... I have severe migraines on the left side of my head.
Does it sound like something that needs investigating? Or nothing to worry about. I have never considered anything like epilepsy.

I think I'd go and see your GP. It may well be nothing but get it checked.

My dh has epilepsy associated with another condition. His manifests differently every time and not in a classic seizure.

Definitely worth a referral to a neurologist

I would say it's definitely time to get that checked out. There are all sorts of seizures. Some people never get grandmals. I do but I also get that rising feeling and I have to pause until it passes. I don't want to worry you at all, just best to get it checked, just to rule it out if anything.

Wel done! Just to let you know, just the migraines alone are worth getting control of. I’m 48, and mine became so bad that a few years ago my GP became convinced that I had a brain tumour. The scans showed no tumour but ischemic scarring from the migraines all through my brain like tiny, wee strokes. I am now permanently on medication and a special (bloody boring) diet so my stroke risk is decreased.

Great about appointment.

If it helps this is what I have and have been investigated for tle. I had mri and also a few eegs. I had these episodes as a teen then they went away but reoccurred when I hit mid 40s so I suspect a hormonal trigger.

They've stoped investigations now and concluded i 'probably' don't have tle. One eeg had a 'blip' but everything else totally clear, mri showed a lovely brain by all accounts.

What they did offer me was medication which treats both seizures and anxiety (this is their other suggested reason).

I had to push to get it checked btw and I don't buy into the anxiety as a cause because of the deja vu/jamais vu sensations.

But I'm relaxed with it now - it's not caused by something serious, it's not progressing and it's just unpleasant really.

Good luck

Ok thanks so much for all the insights. I do have anxiety and am on medication for it already. So it might be related to that! But I’ll get it checked anyway.

@LapinR0se I’m just wondering how you got on with this, I’m waiting to see a neurologist for what I think could be temporal lobe epilepsy and I’m feeling so anxious about it!
