How long for stitches to dissolve?

Just that really, had a lump removed from my labia minora last Wednesday and have 3 or 4 stitches in, wasn’t the nicest experience and I didn’t ask at the time. All looks ok as far as I can tell but it’s like sitting on barbed wire at the moment which I’m hoping will improve when the stitches dissolve.

I had stitches on my foot 6 weeks ago, and most of them were gone by week three. I assume the material they use for feet is more robust.

Are they definitely dissolvable stitches? I would've thought that the moisture down there would make them dissolve faster. Give your doctors a call and ask one of the nurses to take a look.

At least a couple of weeks, sometimes 4+ weeks.

Thanks all, they definitely said dissolvable so will give it a bit longer

Speaking from painful experience at least 10 days to 2 weeks. After a week I could stand it no longer and asked the practice nurse to remove the most painful ones.

It should be 7-10 days. It’s worth getting a ring cushion to sit on to lift the area off direct contact. I had some a couple of months ago that just didn’t go! After 3 weeks I asked for the practice nurse to remove them because the wound had healed and they were stuck fast to the side of my wound! So that’s an option if they don’t go.
