Emailing GP practice.

Hi.

Has anyone had any success with emailing their GP practice for some general advice & have successfully got a response?

I'm having some mental health woes, can't quite find the words to say what I want to say verbally. I was just wondering if there's any way I could get something to my GP in black & white, whilst staying confidental given the current situation.

Thanks

Do your surgery offer an E -consult service? I can’t see that there would be any other way to do it tbh unless you write down what you would put in an email the hand it to a Dr during a face to face consultation or read it out during a telephone consultation. I hope you find a way to discuss things with your gp Flowers

I have sent (well, dropped off) old-fashioned paper letters to my GP in the recent past. That worked.

Bubblemonkey · 04/04/2021 17:55

Did they have an issue with it @dizzydizzydizzy? I’d be happy to take a walk after booking my next appt. At least then I can’t chicken out 😂

They do econsults but I’m not overly keen on the receptionist knowing my life story. I know realistically they don’t give a crap, but still makes me twitch @Totallyworthit. It’s quite a sensitive issue.

Honestly if you email the practice it will be read by someone in admin and or a receptionist too. This is what happens where I work.
I would suggest that you put that you would like the email attaching to your record ready for when you have an appointment with the doctor. Then when you make the appointment the receptionist can add a note to the booking asking the GP to read the email before calling you.

Since Covid most of my interaction with my gp is via email. Including mental health issues

My GP won't accept any form of written communication. Letters get returned with a note that they have not been read.

@Bubblemonkey I don't think they had an issue. I wrote the letter and the problem was dealt with as normal.
