Will the GP investigate/treat these blood test results

Ferritin 11
Vitamin D 32

Private blood test as I didn't want to bother gp unless necessary. From the results summary these are out of range but from my googling they aren't particularly low. The iron and vit d presumably I can deal with but taking supplements.
I am feeling incredibly tired and I am not sure from reading these are particularly problematic results.

The thyroid the results suggest I should talk to GP but four years ago it was tested and told it was "borderline" no treatment.

TSH 2.78 (1.49 four years ago) in range
FT4 11.7 (11.1 four years ago) below range

Speaking as someone with an underactive thyroid and not a medic (so no expert!), I would say all of those are potentially linked to your thyroid. Low ferritin and low vit D is very common with an underactive thyroid. The TSH is on the higher side too.
I would ask the GP to test for thyroid antibodies too to see if you have Hashimoto's.

Also when my ferritin gets that low I feel horrendous! I need it higher than 30 at least to feel ok.

Thanks for your experience @GentlyGentlyOhDear. I am totally exhausted.

Definitely go to the GP!

I think you need to delve into why the ferritin is so low though

Noideawho · 31/03/2021 19:51

I assume period related.

My ferritin is 13 and the GP marked it as normal, but the research I did indicates anything below 50-70 can cause a range of symptoms. I'm taking iron and have upped the red meat in my diet (I normally eat very little) as talking to a GP is a right palaver at the moment.

Noideawho · 01/04/2021 20:38

Are you feeling the benefits of the iron @TabbyStar? It's difficult to understand the huge range of what it ok/normal.

I don't know to be honest, and I'm not really sure I'm taking enough. I'm toying with having a private GP appointment at somewhere that does more functional and integrated services to try and get to the bottom of what's going on. There seem to be a couple of other threads about this at the moment too (can't link am on app!)
