Being a more normal eater and drinker!!

I wasn't sure which thread to put this under...as I'm asking a question which related to how I eat, drink and exercise!

Basically, I'm either a complete hedonist or a total puritan - and I just want to be more moderate!! I have incredibly strong will power in extremes - ie if I decide to give up drinking/sugar/chocolate etc I can do it with ease (gave up alcohol, sugar and carbs for Lent, have almost completed a 40-day shred, and will get through to next Sunday no probs - it's been about 36 days) - but to achieve this, it has to be ZERO alchohol, ZERO sugar/ZERO carbs. For example, I find it really easy to fast. I'll often do two full fasts (ie no food the whole day) a week.

If I"m not going through one of these periods of abstinence, then I'm a total party animal and an eating fiend. I'll drink way too much - have always been the last person at the party, - can't eat one biscuit have to have the whole packet etc. Will binge on chocolate etc.

I just want to be a normal partaker of nice things!! Like able to have two glasses of wine without finishing the bottle...have a chocolate without eating the entire box etc. Has anyone ever had this problem of extremes - and found a way to be less so???

If so - please help!!!

One tip might be to decide how much of something you’re going to eat before you eat it and then put the rest away before you eat. So decide you are having 2 biscuits abs out the packet away before you start? I find that’s way better as if it’s in front of you it’s easy to just finish it off. Same with crisps etc. It’s so hard to stop yourself mid way through the share bag but if you put some on a plate and put the rest away it’s easier.
