Low iron reasons?

Hi,

Just fishing around for any reasons as to why I might suddenly have low iron? I'm 37 and my levels through my two pregnancies were both great (not pregnant now). I have a really good diet rich in iron, lots of red meat, pate, spinach etc

The only thing to note is that I had a really heavy period last month, passed some pretty large clots. Can that send my levels over the edge?

Also, my GP hasn't given much advice on which supplements to take and what strength, on yay way back I've grabbed some ferrous sulphate 200mg tabs and Spatone sachets. Not sure what how much to take?

Doc said iron levels very low but not anaemic yet but will be if I leave them... does that make sense?

New ground for me so any advice welcome. TIA x

Info on dosage here -number 4)

However it can cause constipation (fybogel every evening that you’ve taken it for a couple of weeks until your body adjusts will help) or diarrhoea in some people! Absorption is improved if taken with orange juice.

However I’ve recently read a few articles that say taking double the dose every other day gives better absorption than taking a daily dose.
