Leaking bladder - Is this normal?

Hi,

I have a bit of an embarrassing issue with my bladder. I am 22, and have an issue where I leak wee. This happens especially when exercising, moving a lot, laughing, etc, but also just happens if I'm sitting still/sleeping, etc. I feel like when I do wee on the loo my bladder never empties, if that makes sense?

When it's not lockdown I do a fair few sports and go to the gym, so this really embarrassed me. Even when wearing a pad I still feel like it smells, and also feel like the pads are quite noticeable. Though not sure if it's just my anxiety that makes me feel like this.

I've mentioned it to a GP whilst having an appointment for something else and they seemed to think that it was normal. But I'm only 22 and haven't had children/aren't pregnant so I'm not too sure it is.

I'm thinking of booking another appointment with a different doctor but wanted to know if anyone had any advice. Am I being silly or is this not normal? And also which GP speciality would be the best for this please? gynecology?

Thank you in advance. I know this is a bit TMI. It's just really affecting me.

It's not how it should be put it that way
I've had a child and have this problem
Really I should have pushed before now to get seen but I put up with doctor saying it's normal when I brought it up
I my advice is to push to see an incontinence nurse and she can help you

Please don't put up with this OP. Your GP may be able to help with medication and a referral to the bladder nurse. Where I live, you can refer yourself to the bladder nurse and the phone number is on the GPS website. The bladder nurse will help you with pelvic floor exercises, among other things.
