Piercing Help Please

Hi
I had my conch pierced back in mid-Dec. Other than being a bit tender it doesn't actually hurt however the back of the piercing is causing me some issues. As you will see in the picture the back of it has a lump where the skin almost grows onto the back plate of the stud but then when I wash my hair it wets it and then it detaches from the back plate, weeps a bit and then crusts back up to the stud plate again. Obviously the piercing shop has been shut for the majority of time since I've had it pierced. Ive had contact with them over email and they've now suggested I buy a silicone disc which i have on order, but I'm just looking for any other suggestions. I know it isn't infected as it doesn't have pus coming out of it or feel hot. Thank you!

It looks like the stud is a bit short ? Which may cause the issue of with a new piercing. When my helix got like that I just cleansed with like warm water and rock salt twice a day and it really helped abs the problem was as fixed within a couple do days.

katieg03 · 21/03/2021 20:31

Clean it with salty water twice a day. Then use a camomile tea bag. Just put the teabag on wet a few times a day and it will go down. Had the exact same problem with my helix

I wouldn't say the stud is too short. It can easily be moved backwards and forwards isnt tight. I've done the salt water with no luck unfortunately x

That's the start of a keloid scar.
Salt water as suggested above but failing that then there's a few other options.
You can google how to make an aspirin paste, tea tree oil and a few other options depending on what you want to try.

Reading with interest. This is my new ish daith piercing

MrsBDarcy · 21/03/2021 20:37

Keloids are a specific and unusual kind of scarring. I’m no expert (but have lots of piercings) you need to leave it alone, and wait for it to heal. Cartilage piercings take aaaaages to heal. You’re in the early days

Hey, I had the same thing with my conch piercing. I kept it in for 2 years then eventually took it out as nothing improved and it was still tender when I slept on that side. Other than salt water to make sure it is clean I don't think you have many other options x

Mrbay · 22/03/2021 02:17

Had similar with a recent nose piercing, salt water did nothing but hibi scrub cleared it up completely in a few days

SandAndSea · 22/03/2021 02:24

I also thought it looked short but I'm not an expert. Maybe try posting on a piercing facebook group?

Other than that: don't move it & clean with salt water.

Bagelsandbrie · 22/03/2021 06:23

I had exactly the same thing happen to mine and ended up having to take it out as it started to get really sore. I still have a lump there 20 years later (I had it done when I was 17).

Stillfunny · 22/03/2021 20:13

I got an expensive Maria Tash piercing just before lockdown . It has been painful from the start . And tell me not to sleep on it is impractical. Just waiting for things to open up again so that I can get a reducer in it .
Going to Google that aspirin remedy, thanks.

That looks very irritated and like you may be having a reaction to the jewellery. Is that implant grade titanium?

nipersvest · 24/03/2021 16:50

I've had terrible trouble with a helix piercing I had 2 years ago, it's never healed properly, recently, I bought some different studs for it to try, the bioflex ones, and it's been much better since switching from metal ones. I still spray it every day with the anti bac aftercare spray but the bioflex has definitely helped.

nipersvest · 24/03/2021 16:51

also adding the bioflex come in different lengths, I got botha 10mm and an 8mm one, used the longer till it healed up more then switched to the shorter one.

FiveNightsAtMummys · 24/03/2021 17:01

Have you tried any piercing spray? They seem to help mine but I can't help but poke at them which definitely doesn't help.
