Hii I'm just looking to sound out what I'm currently experiencing and see if anyone has had similar and got any advice.
I'm 27 and have always had infrequent periods and different levels of heavyness. I went 4 years without a period a few years back. Im on no form of contraception currently.
A month and two weeks ago i began with light bleeding, which progressively got worse until i was bleeding through pads and clothes within an hour of changing. I had had a pregnancy test before this so knew there was no chance of it being a miscarriage. I contacted my GP who prescribed me with norethisterone, this stopped it for 1 day and it started back up worse than before. After a week the GP saw me in person again and did an internal exam, she confirmed there was too much blood and clots for her to see anything and referred me to A&E to see the gynea team. My GP spoke to gynea on the phone who said "to just put a coil in me" to which my GP refused on the basis that she wasn't goint to put a coil in me without knowing why this is happening.
I went to a&e and the gynea asked me if id considered having a coil to which i said no, as i want to find out why this is happening before using something to mask the symptoms. He then did an internal exam and disappeared. I didnt get to see or speak to him again. I was given an injection of tranexamic acid and sent home with tablets of it without any answers. The tablets stemmed the bleeding, I'm still taking them but its getting heavier again each day.
I went for an ultrasound today who confirmed they couldn't see anything apart from my lining looked thick but the ultrasound tech said it could just be because of my cycle and they wouldn't know because i dont have a regular cycle.
I'm now at home, with awful pain, and bleeding getting heavier by the day and running out of tranexamic acid. My GP is away until Wednesday next week but I'm baffled as to what they're going to be able to do now and i have no answers as to whats even causing it.
Has anyone experienced similar and got any suggestions? Thank you for reading all of this.
