Okay, now if anyone is eating PLEASE CLOSE THIS THREAD because it's horrid.

Today I was out shopping and missed lunch and returned home at 3:30 famished. Looked in fridge, one leftover trout, two days past use by. Looked and smelled fine but couldn't be arsed to wait for George Foreman grill to heat up so put it in the microwave for three minutes.

It looked cooked.

So I ate most of it, thinking, 'some of this is a tad cooler than it should and a bit pinker' but was very hungry. Got to last bit and noticed something white and wiggling.

A fish worm

Which means:

(1) The fish wasn't properly cooked
(2) I may well have eaten another one

In this case, this emoticon does not mean envy but bleeuuurrgh.

Anyway, apart from making me feel sick obviously, I am a tad concerned about what happens if I have eaten one. Anybody know by chance?

NB I am already a small size 10 and could do with not going down two dress sizes by catching worms thanks!

I would google for you,but we are about to have dinner. Sorry.

You poor thing. I don't have any advice but sympathy.

You don't necessarily lose that much weight by having worms. I think we'd all have one if it meant we could lose weight!!!

I have no idea but thanks for teaching me a lesson as I am one for doing similar things! yuk!!!! I hate worms!

Thanks everyone. The good news is I barfed it all up because I googled and read this and it was enough to send me to talk to Huey down the big white telephone

Urgghghghhghgh!

I don't like food that wriggles.

yuck what a horrible site!

glad you've sorted it (one way or another!)

OK, I'm not looking at any of the links grin] so apologies if you already know this. The worm will probably be a fish parasite - totally harmless, although I agree totally unpleasant. I know because I found one in some fish too (before I cooked it, thank the lordy) & dh (scientist) looked into it. I did get £5 back from Morrisons though
