I've had this three years and it's driving me nuts. Size of a pea, on my scalp towards my neck. To the touch it feels like a scab. I've tried (what feel likes) everything, prescribed medicated shampoos, scalp treatments, clotrimazole, hydrocortisone etc. It's not particularly sore unless I catch it. Any idea what it is/how I get rid?

Some kind of benign growth? Have you asked your GP?

Minimonkeysmum · 13/03/2021 23:10

Could it be ringworm? Worth asking a pharmacist as they may have some advice. Clotrimazole should work, but if it doesn't there are other things you can try. Good luck!

GP has prescribed a few things, none of them have worked so far. Treated for fungal/bacterial, eczema, dermatitis.

I've used some 'homeopathic' methods like tea tree, coconut oil just to see if it would go.
It doesn't seem to spread or get bigger.

It looks like it could be a sebhorraeic keratosis to me, caused by sun damage. They aren't sinister in any way but can be annoying. A dermatologist would remove it for you. I've had a few taken off myself with freezing.

(Disclaimer: I'm not a medic, don't take anyone's word for it on here, including mine, and ask for a dermatology referral)

Thank you, I will go back to the GP (when I can, not really an emergency) and ask for a referral.
