Apart from not wanting to wee when I cough or sneeze, what are the other reasons to do my pelvic floor exercises?

Am 28 weeks preg and have a bad cough. This, ahem, has drawn my attention to the fact that my pelvic floor muscles aren't all they are cracked up to be. This is a good reason to try and do some more exercises but are there any others?

yes, your pelvic floor muscles help to protect you from back injury.

it is one of nature's cruellest ironies that your protective muscles are at their weakest just when you have to suddenly start hoiking babies and their endless accessories around. proof that "intelligent design" is a load of old codswallop if ever there was any.

If you don't, when you give birth the back wall of your vagina may collapse and it will almost fall out of your front bottom and the gynaecologist will tell you that he won't fix you until you've had all your children.

Is that reason enough?

and that.

Better sex???

Ironically I find sex better now as dh is rather big and there's a bit more space in there now.

He probably feels like he's shagging the channel tunnel tho.

Ah yes, SM, that happened to a friend of mine. When she had the reconstructive op, the conversation she had with our boss when explaining why she needed to go into hospital was priceless.

If I have another c=section, am I in the clear?

Also, when you 'zip up from the back' - keep going right up to your tummy button, as it helps stop your stomach muscles from separating.

My stomach muscles separated (toblerone belly) and (a) it was gross, (b) it took ages before I didn't look pregnant after I'd had dd.

My physio told me to pull everything in as though you're walking into a crowded swimming pool wearing a bikini with no towel.
