Problems with walking, staggering gait, any advice to stop muscles getting so tired?

I should start by saying I am having this investigated and have had a lot of neurological issues ruled out already, but I have in the past few weeks had a lot of trouble walking as my legs start to wobble at the knee and then spasm and go in unexpected directions.
Am trying not to worry and to adapt for now but it’s very tiring to walk at all plus my muscles start to ache too. Anyone else have this and has any advice on how to minimise fatigue and pain?

Thanks in advance!

An occupational therapist will be able to help you and provide you with a range of equipment to support your walking. Depends where you are (I am assuming you're in the UK) but you can access an assessment either via the NHS or social services - your GP will be able to tell you which and should be able to refer you. If you say you are having trouble walking at all then they should be able to see you pretty quickly.

Exactly what the support looks like will depend very much on your condition, but a proper assessment by an OT should really help. Good luck Flowers

I've had similar since catching covid a couple of months ago, could that be a possibility for you? I'm really hoping it will go away on its own.

A walker (called a zimmer frame in the UK) might help temporarily until you are assessed. At least you would feel more secure. I assume you can borrow one somewhere? Good luck.

Thanks for all the replies- it’s all really useful info.

I’ve been told it’s likely psychological/functional so I don’t know if there would be a reluctance for me to adapt too much?

Interestingly it came on after my covid vaccine...
