Any dentists that can talk to me?

I had large lower molar extraction 4 weeks ago exactly.
Had been hurting for few weeks. It was root filled and had lots of fillings.
The x-ray didn't show very much but I did have very deep pockets either side so it was decided to get rid of it.

By Day 2 it just didn't feel right so I went back and he packed it.
Then it was the weekend and it had started to get really rank but he said he didn't think it was an open socket.
Just that it was taking its time.
The following week I was put on on a course of antibiotics because of the yellow and the pain.
No improvement so he x-rayed it again and just said again it was slow to heal.

The top of the extraction site has as we gun to heal now and I was also given a second lot of antibiotics.
But the main problem over the last 2 weeks is the extreme pain on the sides of the extraction the gum near my cheek.
Very very tender and I still can't eat on that side so I went back again and he did he 360 X-ray and said everything looked fine no damage to nerve no no bone problems etc.

I did raise concerns about gum cancer but he reassured me there was nothing to see c&f I told all thinking ok it's just going to take time but there's been no improvement now in 4 days.
This was a private dentist and care has been ok, but I still don't really understand why I've got so much pain and tenderness in the sides compared to the top.
I also hurtt in my jaw and up to my ear.
Is it just a matter of more time?

Very fed up and exhausted by this 6 week event.
Any advice on healing most welcome, as all I seem to be able to find dry socket problems.
There is a little bit of bone showing in the socket but it's not by the really bad side of my gum. And anyhow he said that would be best leaving and not interfering with at the present time.
Thankyou any one.
I don't know when to go back I just feel embarrassed and maybe I doing just need to give it another few weeks.

Hope that your socket is improving. If you are continuing to experience moderate to severe pain ( without pain killers the pain wakes you at night or painkillers don’t give much relief) please go back to your dentist.
Dry sockets don’t respond well to antibiotics but often require dressing several times. If the gum is now pain free it may be the bone remodelling that you can feel.
Hot salt water mouthwashes are the only mouthwash you should use. Any other remedy may be causing irritation, such as bongela or oil of clove preparation.
It can take up to twelve months for a socket to completely heal, during this time you may experience short episodes of inflammation/pain. This is due to small spicules of bone ( fractured off during extraction) working their way out of the gum. Often they are too small to see or feel but the body naturally ejects them.
Pain this long after an extraction may indicate a larger fragment of bone left in the socket. An intra oral radiograph would be indicated as it gives much better detail.
I would give it another week and ask to be seen again.
I would much prefer that patients bother me with post op pain than leave it until it becomes serious.

Thankyou for your advice.

I've not used anything except the salt water as figured it too strong. Bought the clove oil and discarded that few weeks ago.

It's been packed 3 times now.
The x-ray I had was one where you stand up and it does a circuit around your head.
Is that what you mean? Dentist didn't say anything was looking not as it should.
I can understand that little shards can work their way out, so maybe that is still to come.

Thanks again
