Teenager soiled himself twice in four days. Pharmacist or GP?

DS is 14. On Sunday had a painful stomach. Let out a fart and then soiled himself. His stomach hurt that day but was then fine Monday Tuesday.

This morning he's done the same thing and soiled himself again. The toilet he has been in smells like nothing I've ever smelt before and his stomach is really painful. If evil had a smell, this would be it!

Would you seek medical attention or see how things go?

Has he fluffed and followed through? Bad tummy? Eaten something dodgy....
I’d wait a week / see if it happens again.

Yep, fluffed and followed through twice. Once Sunday, once today.

Can you order lateral flow tests - we’ve got them as our kids are at school?

Vickles20 · 10/03/2021 16:53

We call it cappuccino bottom! Tummy bug. And smells unreal. Bad tummy ache too.
I had it about a month ago. Two days then it passed.

For tests without symptoms, is your local health centre not offering them yet? Ours opened up as a testing centre for anyone who didn’t have classic symptoms but wanted a test. Didn’t know about it until yesterday though!

Hope he’s alright, what vaccines did he get the day before this started? Did he get leaflets with possible side effects away with him?

ChancesWhatChances · 10/03/2021 17:08

Also, if it looks like coffee grounds he needs a&e immediately, that’s a medical emergency and indicates blood

theMoJareajoke · 10/03/2021 17:10

Yes just lie to get the test.
Every other country recognises abdominal issues as a symptom.
Is he not testing before going back to school?

hedgehogger1 · 10/03/2021 17:11

If you want to test for COVID I wouldn't be convinced at all by a negative lateral
Flow test. Get a proper one

skeggycaggy · 10/03/2021 17:14

What vaccinations did he have? Could it be a side effect?

OneMoreForExtra · 10/03/2021 17:24

Exactly the same as my DS with covid. Just tick the having symptoms box, no-one asks what.

Coffee ground vomit indicates blood, not poo. Tar like sticky dark poo indicates blood, what delightful info

Sounds like he has a stomach bag. Has he just had the 2 episodes?

I wouldnt get Covid tested for that. I wouldnt even call the Dr unless he has severe continuous abdominal pain.
Or a 4 day history of diarrhoea where whatever he eats goes through him. And he does not pass a normal bowel movement.

You only vomit coffee ground stuff

Also doesnt sound like colitis right now.

Keep an eye on him.
If diarrhoea continues endure hes well hydrated.
