DH worried about his concussion

DH fainted as a side effect of vaccine a few days ago (NHS worker) and had a nasty bump to the head and was unconscious for a few minutes until I found him. He had significant short term memory loss which has now come back, and was taken to hospital for CT scan which was clear.

But since the fall he's not been himself - very irritable, snappy, tired, he's worried he's damaged his brain in some way. He just seems different.

Just wondering if this is normal following a concussion? Any advice is appreciated, thank you. I said he should phone GP or 111 but he seems to think there's nothing they can really do or say.

Did he not get a leaflet after the scan? I had a head bump with no loss of consciousness and got a leaflet all about what was normal, what to keep a careful eye on and what to hot foot it back to A&E with.

Yes he did actually - I'll have a read at it myself because he seems to be struggling to retain information at the moment. He's reading some nursery rhymes to the DC just now to try and exercise his memory.

Have a google concussion and look at the nice guidelines on it.
It all sounds like side effects of concussion.
He needs to take some time off and rest.

Have a look at post concussion syndrome, I am still suffering about 4 years after my accident.

Post concussion syndrome is nasty, but if he's had a clear scan that's good and it's very early days. Just dont push it, brain fatigue is very likely so rest is better than him testing himself.
I wasn't "myself" for a couple of weeks, then suffered for a few months and the lingering effects now are very manageable

Thank you for the replies. Yes it's very early days, he still has dizzy spells and I noticed he got a few words mixed up earlier. The DC are both young and seem to be irritating him more than usual since it happened. Hoping things improve over the next few days and I expect he will be off work for a couple of weeks.

Hi, just an update. It's been over 2 weeks and he is still not back to himself. Still having dizzy spells, aggression issues, and is currently upset and frustrated. I'm waiting for a call back from GP but I'm not sure what they will do. He started being quite aggressive and having a breakdown and I have two very young children in the house so I have left him upstairs. He said if it continues like this he would end up killing himself. I'm understandably very worried, it might be post concussion syndrome.

21 years for me. Unfortunately mine got worse 5 years ago after a second brain injury

@HopingForOurRainbowBaby sorry to hear that. It's just very worrying
