www.emedicinehealth.com/bartholin_cyst/article_em.htm

could it be one of these possibly? never had one myself, but from what I can gather they are uncomfortable but not particularly worrying or hard to treat. Probably best to get it looked at by nice female doc/practice nurse.

it says page not found

Google bartholins cyst. I had one of these not so long ago, mine didn't hurt (some do some don't) I had it for a couple of weeks then it disappeared as quick as it had appeared.

from what i can gather tho if they hurt, your best to take a trip to the docs as you could need some anti-biotics.

SOunds horrid trace, could you go to the docs but ask to see the nurse instead of a male doc?

Rumpel · 04/11/2007 19:37

Put a hot flannel/face cloth steeped in tea tree or lavender oil or epsom salts on it and keep doing it. Then apply anti-septic cream. i got them a couple of times when a teenager but always cleaned then popped them and squeezed out gunk! Bleurgh. You need to keep the area clean if they pop though.

You could always speak to the pharmacist - they might be able to give you something to apply.

Is it on the inside or outside? Could it be an infected hair follicle?

This is quite common and has happened to me before, I managed to convince myself at the time that I had developed a nasty disease and then went to my GP and ended up very reassured if not a little foolish.

Rumpel · 04/11/2007 19:38

Put flannel in hot water with a few drops of oil I mean't to say.

trace2 · 04/11/2007 19:41

trace2 · 04/11/2007 19:52

OP posts:
EmmaJW1976 · 04/11/2007 19:53

oh. I would ask anyway. I thought it was a rule that all GP surgeries had to have a female member of staff for such problems...?

trace2 · 04/11/2007 19:56

when i was having a smear done he fetched receptionist to stand other side of curtain

HelloMama · 04/11/2007 19:57

You say 'i need to see a doctor for an urgent appointment about a private matter'. If they ask for more details you say 'I would like to speak to one of the doctors directly if more details are required'.

You could also go to your local family planning clinic or GUM clinic to be looked at if you don't want to go to see GP.
