Anyone had emergency dental care in lockdown?

Currently sat in absolute agony awaiting a dental assessment call in the next 24 hours. Can anyone tell me how things work with dentists atm? We have been really strict rule followers and then some re covid since last March. Not had our vaccines yet, hubby is due to be called up anytime now as he's in late 60s, has asthma, hiatius hernia, and gerd. I want to do everything I can to protect him and wouldn't go if I wasn't beyond desperate.
Just trying to work out what I can do to maximise protecting him.

My dentist’s website has detailed description of what to expect and changes they’ve made to waiting area, number of appointments, not using loos there, Ppe and cleaning regimes between patients etc. Also they mention an additional fee charged for Ppe and cleaning. Does your dentist set this out anywhere ?
Friend who went to Same dentist for emergency back in may said all was followed to the letter other than dentist and dental nurse masks both slipping all of the time !
Good luck op.

I don't have a dentist atm. Was unhappy with last one and asked them to take me off their list. (lovely one before that retired) . I was looking around for a new one when coronavirus arrived. So it got put off and off.. 111 are getting a dentist assessment person to ring.

I've had 3 emergency dental appointments over the past year. I won't describe my experiences in case I put you off getting treatment.

The one thing I didn't have any concerns about was Covid safety. They were very strict and followed all the guidelines.
Not surprising really as the dentist and staff are more at risk from us than us from them.

We've had routine check ups and dh(cv) is awaiting treatment shortly having broken a tooth in May. They admit one at a time, clean in between patients, limit what they can do to avoid air born particles, wear mask/visor.

I went to my usual NHS dentist for an emergency appointment.

Nothing much different to one in normal times, other than having to sign a Covid info form about risks.

thanks all - 111 rang me back and a dentist will ring me tomorrow. I'm literally just rocking and pacing with pain - it will feel a long wait...
