My friend's just told me she's had E Coli - I saw her last week, should I worry?

Apparently the incubation period can be 2 weeks? I went to her house last Friday morning, had a cup of coffee. Went to the loo before I left & washed my hands. She fell ill that afternoon & was admitted to hospital.
I feel fine, but DS2 (3.5) had one bout of the runs yesterday afternoon. He's been fine since - no temp & is eating normally.

Are we at risk, does anyone know?

E.coli lives in the gut of everyone and is a common cause of urinary tract infections.

I don't know if she was infectious or not.

She had the full whack - bloody diaorrhea, isolation in hospital etc. Public health people told her to notify anyone she'd been in contact with.

How did she get it? It is not a type of food poisoning? If so surely if you didn't eat the same food it's a very low risk?
