Benn to the opticians, who said it will clear up itself in 3-4 days....but I'll be mad by then.

Its right in the outside corner, my bottom eyelid is all bumpy and red. Inside looks like I've squirted red paint in it.

Stupidly, its all my falut too. I cleaned the oven yesterday, had and itchy eye so tried to rub it with my sleeve as my hands were covered in mr muscle. Sleeve had Mr bloody muscle on too so hey presto I have an ulserated eye!

Pleas etell me there a magic cream to at least stop the itching....

I think worth seeing a pharmacist or your GP. You can get steroid drops to help promote healing and I'm fairly sure there's drops that can be used for pain and discomfort.

LadyTophamHatt · 02/11/2007 16:28

It looks pretty rank I have to say.

just trying to get an appt at surgery....not holding out much hope though.

Not steroids if it is an ulcer, I was told they can do more harm.

Does your local hospital have an eye clinic? You really need it checking out carefully, with a full slit lamp exam. Failing that I would be more inclined to go to A&E than the GP, there is little a GP can do because they don't have the equipment for a proper examination.

With a specialist exam they can give you the proper pain relief.

lemonaidtreasonandplot · 02/11/2007 16:36

Listen to SaintGeorge, for she is wise... A&E sounds like a good plan.

um.. you're not currently breastfeeding are you? I reckon a squirt of breastmilk would really help. I use in one dd when she has an allergic reaction and it takes away all the pain and swelling almost straight away. I hope you find something, I can't imagine the pain of Mr muscle in your eye.

Just back from A&E.
GP surgery were near on useless and told me to call the chemist. They said I need to see the doctor.

Anyway. GP receptionist gave me the eye hospital number incase it got worse over the weekend. I called and they told me to come striaght up.

Clever eye doctor said its not an ulser but is very inflammed from the chemicals. The coldsore type blisters around my eye are probably a reaction to the chemicals too.

So the lesson for today is-

Don't clean your oven. EVER.

Did A&E give you any drops to stop the itching amd soreness?

LadyTophamHatt · 02/11/2007 20:26

oh yes, forgot to mention that. Clever eye doctor gave me some drops.
4 times a day for 3 days and if its not better by monday I have to go back.

I saw an Ovenu van today, I tried to write the number down but missed it.

Hope the drops are helping LTH.

SaintGeorgesWheel · 02/11/2007 21:39

You don't get cash bungs Cali, you get an extra bar in your chocolate parcel

Hope the drops give you some relief LTH. If you need a top up pain killer, try ibuprofen rather than paracetamol - the anti-inflammatory properties will help.

chipmonkey · 02/11/2007 22:09

I never clean my oven. It is a dangerous occupation and not worth trying.

Ring the eye hospital for advice on the drops LTH and the scabby bits cracking.

CoteDAzur · 03/11/2007 17:34

Cut a bit of garlic and touch it to the itchy red swollen bit on the corner of your eye. It will be gone by the time you wake up tomorrow.

Don't know why it works but it does

BigGitDad · 03/11/2007 17:41

TCH you can take Paracetemol and ibrufen together, since one is an anti inflammatory and the other acts as a pain blocker so they both work in different ways.

eyeball is quite bloodshot. swelling has mostly gone down now, just my eyelid puffy now.

Its not sore anymore apart from when the scabby bit cracks...which I think is unaviodable because the crack is right at the corner of my eye.
I think it will be alot better by tomorrow but I'll call the hospital again if not. The doctor at A& e made me an appt at the eye clinic for monday anyway.
